Act Still in Trouble in Epsom says Craig
Polling just released shows John Banks is still struggling to win over the voters in Epsom.
Of those who had decided who they were likely to vote for as an electoral candidate in Epsom 35.3% say they would vote
for the National candidate, 31.4% would tick Banks, and 27.4% say they would give their vote to Conservative Party
Leader Colin Craig if he was on the ballot paper.
Mr. Craig, who has been polling Epsom for the last 8 months, says “polling is consistently showing the National
candidate is ahead of Banks in Epsom, it’s become clear that Banks is failing to gain traction”.
While it’s the undecided voters that will determine the outcome in Epsom, Craig’s decision to stand in Rodney gives
Banks and the struggling Act party a lifeline.
Craig has announced he will stand in Rodney where he has strong personal connections and is polling comfortably ahead of
other candidates.
“The people of Rodney are very good to me. I’ve lived here, and my business involvement here has spanned more than 20
years. I’m passionate about getting things moving for everyone in the region,” says Craig.
Of those who have decided who they are likely to vote for as an electoral candidate in Rodney 47% say they will vote for
Craig, compared to 36.3% for the National Candidate.
The Conservative Party expects to name their Epsom candidate in due course.
