New candidate for Dunedin South
“Warren Voight of Fairfield has been selected to stand for Democrats for Social Credit in the Dunedin South electorate” DSC Leader Stephnie de Ruyter, and Southern Region President Bob Warren, announced today.
Ms de Ruyter explained that Mr Voight replaces Dennis Dorney who had been announced previously as the DSC’s Dunedin South candidate. She said that Mr Dorney has withdrawn his name from the DSC candidate pool, citing an unexpected change in his personal circumstances.
“Warren will be a tremendous asset to the Southern Region candidate team. He understands the issues which concern Dunedin South voters, and will be a staunch advocate for the DSC on the hustings” Ms de Ruyter said.
Mr Voight was born, raised, and educated in Dunedin. On leaving school, he worked for NZ Rail until being made redundant during the reforms of the late 1980s. A massage therapist since 2000, Mr Voight is a former competitive power lifting representative who describes himself as a life-long social credit follower.
“I believe in concentrating on solutions, not problems” said Mr Voight.
“It’s exciting to be representing the DSC in my home electorate, Dunedin South. I’m looking forward to working as part of the Dunedin campaign team to take the social credit message to voters” said Mr Voight.
