Latest Roy Morgan Poll Shows National's Support Unchanged On 56%
The latest New Zealand Roy Morgan Poll shows support for Prime Minister John Key’s National-led Government is virtually
unchanged at 56% (up 0.5%). Support for Key’s National Party is 52% (up 0.5%), ACT NZ 2% (unchanged), the Maori Party
1.5% (unchanged), and United Future 0.5% (unchanged).
Support for Opposition Parties is at 44% (down 0.5%) — Labour Party 29.5% (down 2.5%), Greens 9% (up 2%), New Zealand
First 3.5% (down 0.5%), Mana Party 1% (up 0.5%) and Others 1% (unchanged).
If a National Election were held today the National Party would easily be returned to Government.
The latest New Zealand Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating has risen 3.5 points to 131.5 with 59% (up 2%) of New
Zealanders saying New Zealand is ‘heading in the right direction’ compared to 27.5% (down 1.5%) that say New Zealand is
‘heading in the wrong direction.’

“Today’s New Zealand Roy Morgan Poll shows Prime Minister John Key’s National-led Government (56%, up 0.5%) maintaining
a strong lead over the Opposition Parties (44%, down 0.5%). National is virtually unchanged at 52% (up 0.5%), while the
main Opposition Labour Party has fallen to 29.5% (down 2.5%) — it’s lowest since May.
“Labour’s woes come after a disappointing response to the launch of their election policies — including contentious
plans to introduce a capital gains tax at a rate of 15% and increase the top tax rate for those earning more than
$150,000 a year to 39% from the present rate of 33%.
“Today’s results indicate John Key is well-placed to win a second term in office at New Zealand’s election in November
with the National vote (52%) now 7% higher than it was at the 2008 election, National stands a good chance of winning a
majority in Parliament in its own right.”
Electors were asked: “If a New Zealand Election were held today which party would receive your party vote?”
This latest New Zealand Roy Morgan Poll on voting intention was conducted by telephone with a NZ wide cross-section of
845 electors from August 15 — 28, 2011. Of all electors surveyed 5% (down 3.5%) didn’t name a party.
