Ability for Public to Provide Information via NZSIS website

The New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) is introducing an online method for people to provide information.
From today, people will be able to provide information to the NZSIS via its website, as an alternative to the freephone
line (0800 SIS 224) which has been in operation since 2001.
“Our new online contribution form is a modern tool to gather useful information from willing members of the public,
which is one of the roles of NZSIS,” Director of Security Dr Warren Tucker said today.
“The online form will be an accessible way for people to contribute information of national security that they believe
may be of interest to the NZSIS,” he said.
“NZSIS is a civilian government agency which contributes to New Zealand’s safety and security. We gather and evaluate
intelligence about current and emerging issues, events and threats relevant to New Zealand’s national security and
global interests,” Dr Tucker said.
“We rely on many methods of gathering information, including engaging with communities and collecting and evaluating
information provided by members of the public,” he said.
Similar such online functions are used by international partners and other government departments. By offering the
online form, the NZSIS is keeping up with technology and making it easier for the public to give information in a secure
and confidential manner.
The public contribution form is now on the NZSIS website www.nzsis.govt.nz.
