Media statement from Te Arataura 06 August 2011
Te Arataura, The Waikato-Tainui executive, has expressed its gratitude for the support it was shown by the tribal parliament, Te Kauhanganui.
A special meeting was held to vote on resolutions to remove the Chairman of Te Arataura, Tukoroirangi Morgan and the whole of Te Arataura.
Deputy Chair Patience Te Ao said the vote for Te Arataura was overwhelmingly in support of the executive to be retained.
“Te Arataura members were humbled by the vote of support,” Mrs Te Ao said.
“It’s now incumbent on us to work hard to maintain the faith the marae showed in us today,” she said.
Mrs Te Ao said the vote on the chair was inconclusive.
“A vote was taken but it is to be reviewed,” she said.
“We hope the matter is resolved sooner rather than later.”
