Peter Dunne misled New Zealanders, The ALCP says.
In April Peter Dunne told the public that Kronic was 'less harmful than cannabis'.
Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party (ALCP) Deputy leader Mike Britnell said it is no wonder youths are tuning to potentially dangerous products.
“If natural cannabis was regulated and people who used it were not treated as criminals, then there would be not such an interest in more dangerous substitutes.”
The inventor of the cannabinoid in Kronic Emeritus Professor John Huffman, opposed banning the product.
"It would probably be useless as marijuana has been illegal in the United States since 1937," he said
ALCP will reclassify cannabis as a class-D substance, if elected.
"This will draw consumers away from Kronic and the Black Market Drug trade, in general," Mr Britnell said.
"Peer reviewed scientific research proves that Kronic is more toxic and harmful than cannabis,"
"While the safety of Cannabis justifies ending its prohibition."
