GPJA Organises Protect Action Against Tony Blair Visit
GPJA: Tony Blair - war criminal
GPJA is working with other organisations to protest against a Tony Blair fundraising visit to Auckland on 28 July.
The visit is touted as "an audience with Tony Blair - lessons in leadership, negotiation and innovation" but it should be called "supporting a war criminal - lessons in lying, deceit and mass murder."
The protest will call for Tony Blair to be put on trial for war crimes relating to the lies and deception used to justify the 2003 invasion of Iraq where up to a million innocent civilians have been killed. The justifications used for the invasion have since been shown to have been lies, lies and more lies.
Instead of calling for his arrest a group of wealthy corporates are bringing him to New Zealand as their guest speaker. Tickets to the dinner at Eden Park are $495 each - or $1500 for those who want to shake his hand and have their photo taken with him.
These corporate supporters of the event include:
VISY
Volkswagon
Markson Sparks
Newstalk ZB
National Business Review
dbg
Design Communication
Spicres Paper
Sky News
The New Zealand public should shun these shameless companies who would welcome a war criminal to this country.
A coalition of groups will be supporting the protest which will be held from 11am at Eden Park (Walters Road Entrance) on Thursday 28th July.
