State Services Commission on the move
The State Services Commission (SSC) will be moving to new premises in early 2012, State Services Commissioner Iain Rennie announced today.
After more than 20 years at the corner of Molesworth and Pipitea streets, SSC will be moving to the Reserve Bank Building at 2, The Terrace in March, 2012. This marks a return to the building that was SSC's home between 1971 and 1986.
The move will bring SSC closer to the other two central agencies and also delivers significant savings over the lease period.
"The move represents estimated savings of $890,000 from 2012/13 to $860,000 in 2017/18, amounting to a saving of 66 percent on current accommodation costs. This is equivalent to 1.5 percent of the annual operating costs of SSC, where our existing accommodation costs represent 4.4 percent of that total operating cost.
"Moving will also bring our occupation density down below the 16m² as recommended by the Better Administrative and Support Services (BASS) 2009/10 survey.
"The shift to the Reserve Bank Building also supports the planned coordination of some back office functions with The Treasury and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet," Iain Rennie said.
