New Zealand Post management snub 1400 Dunedin
customers
Media release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday 25 May 2011
Community relations between New Zealand Post and the community have hit a new low after head office managers refused to meet with local customers in Dunedin this week.
New Zealand Post management want to shut the doors at the busy and popular Dunedin Metro Post Shop and Kiwibank, but have refused to front up to justify their decision to those most affected – their customers.
Dunedin Metro is the only post shop and Kiwibank in the South Island under threat of closure.
A petition launched last week has gained around 1400 signatures (and growing) from local customers of the Dunedin Metro Post Shop and Kiwibank.
Petition organizers invited New Zealand Post CEO Brian Roche and Kiwibank CEO Paul Brock to be presented with the petition and letters from customers, at 12 noon this Friday 27 May 2011 at the Dunedin Metro Post Shop and Kiwibank in the Exchange.
But New Zealand Post have emailed back saying that they won't show up, and the petition should be mailed to them – from a post office they are about to close.
Save Dunedin Metro Post Shop and Kiwibank campaign spokesperson Victor Billot says the approach taken by New Zealand Post management is causing major concern and anger amongst Dunedin business and personal customers.
The campaign organizers have repeated their invitation to New Zealand Post senior management to receive the petition in Dunedin this Friday 12 noon.
Local customers and community representatives have also been invited.
A rally on Monday this week outside the Dunedin Metro Post Shop and Kiwibank attracted numerous concerned customers including businesses, parents, workers, beneficiaries and retired people.
All box holders with the 9054 postcode will be affected by this decision.
