Solomon Tipene : A Man who can deliver for Te Tai Tokerau
President for the Maori Party, Pem Bird is pleased to announce the successful selection of Solomon Tipene of Ngati Hine me te whare tapu o Ngapuhi as the Maori Party candidate for the June 25 by-election.
"Solomon immediately impresses with his sharp intellect, his strong grasp of contemporary issues facing Te Tai Tokerau, and his strength and commitment to the learnings of kaupapa Maori" said Mr Bird.
"His humility is remarkable, given the breadth of experience he has across a vast range of public and private agencies - but it is certainly a quality that is to be much admired".
"Te Tai Tokerau is at a crucial period of their journey" said Mr Bird.
"They need someone to represent their interests, who can deliver on aspirations, and achieve change by seeking constructive solutions which include all of the peoples of Te Tai Tokerau in their approach".
"I am confident with Solomon at the helm, this electorate will reap the benefit of an MP who can place the priorities for Te Tai Tokerau firmly and squarely on Government's programme".
"Solomon is an articulate and extremely well-informed man of the people" said Mr Bird. "He brings a sense of optimism, a vibrancy and an enormous energy to the role which I find really exciting. We know we have a lot of work to do, but with Solomon beside us, success on 25 June is well within our reach".
