Bill English Invents New Sedative

Tamaki Independent candidate Stephen Berry commends Bill English for inventing the world’s most effective sedative with the release of the 2011 budget. “This budget lacks balls. It is boring and without imagination. This budget contains no vision, no principles and no way in hell of getting the majority of New Zealanders off the dependency of the state tit!”

“Bill English’s budget is a mere extension of the status quo. It still accepts the bankrupt philosophy of government involvement in the economy and the lives of individuals. Every individual New Zealander, man, woman and child, is committed to borrowing $70 a week for the next financial year. They do not do this because they are gullible, because they are gamblers or because they think the government can solve all their problems. They do this because the government has the power to force them to do so.”

Mr Berry believes that a deficit of $16.7 billion was a real opportunity for a National government to throw off the shackles of wanton spending that were left by the last Labour government. “This National government has completely wasted their opportunity to stay true to the National party principles of individual freedom and personal responsibility. They have allowed the growth of the state to continue virtually unabated and still refuse to accept the truism that individuals should run their own lives, not clipboard nazis in the Beehive!”

Stephen Berry cites Working for Families as an opportunity missed by this National/Act/Maori Party/United government. “A massive $2.8 billion, 17% of the deficit, is being wasted on subsidising those who choose to have families at the expense of those who choose not to. National could have shown that their party still has principles by wiping this program. Instead, in the words of Bill English, they merely “trimmed” it by $200 million.”

Stephen Berry still maintains that it is possible to give each New Zealander an extra $1500 a year in their pocket by introducing a $15000 income tax free threshold and balance the budget by 2013. “Government needs to adopt a radical new cultural change. Government needs to accept that they do not own the lives of individuals. Government needs to accept that their only legitimate role is the protection of the right of individuals to live their lives as they see fit without using force against others. When the Government accepts this, we will never see $16.7 billion deficits again!”

Stephen Berry’s plans to abolish Working for Families and the Ministry of Climate Change will cut nearly $3.6 billion from Government spending. The candidate’s proposal to privatise ACC removes a further $1.1 billion. The abolition of the Ministry of Economic Development would save a further $427 million. These cuts are a fraction of the fat Berry advocates slashing from government.

“I have accepted the revolutionary mindset required to shrink the influence of government and return the books to black at a rapid pace. Residents of Tamaki need to be asking themselves if other candidates have the same ability!”
