Commissioner's service will have a lasting impact
Chief Commissioner Carl Davidson says the Families Commission will miss the input of Deputy Commissioner Bruce Pilbrow, who has resigned from the Families Commission, but says his work for New Zealand families will continue.
"Bruce has told us he needs to focus on the important work he does for families as the CEO of Parents Inc, and we support him in that. But his contribution to the work of the Families Commission during the past two years will also have a lasting impact."
Mr Davidson says the two years Bruce has been with the Commission include time in a Commissioner role, Deputy Chief Commissioner and standing in as Chief Commissioner.
"During that time, Bruce brought a freshness and vitality to the Board of the Commission, and a depth of experience of working directly with families and how they are best supported to be as happy, healthy, safe and well.
"He reminded us that while our research is important for building knowledge of what we know about families and whanau in New Zealand, ultimately it's about how we use that knowledge to benefit families themselves that matters most.
"His highly energetic approach, his willingness to get past the paperwork to the crux of the matter, and his humour will also be missed. He has served the Commission well and I know he will continue to serve New Zealand families well. We wish him all the very best."
