National Selects Claudette Hauiti as Mangere Candidate

National Party Mangere Electorate Chair John Collins is pleased to announce that Claudette Hauiti will be the Party's Mangere candidate for the upcoming General Election.

"The National Party values the support we receive from the Mangere Electorate and we are delighted to have Claudette as our candidate to contest the November 26 election.

Hauiti says she is looking forward to running a strong campaign on the issues that matter in Mangere.

"As we emerge from the recession, it has become even more important for our Government to control debt so that future generations of Kiwis don't have to pick up the pieces from rash promises made in 2011. I admire the Government's efforts to blunt the sharp edges of the recession for vulnerable Kiwis, and the way the Prime Minister has handled some extremely testing times in his first three years.

"John Key's reliable and proven leadership is critically important for our country's future, and I will be doing my utmost ensure National is returned to Government on 26 November.

Best known for her broadcasting and production roles in Maori and Pasifika media, Hauiti is currently the Executive Producer of Indigenous media for multi-media company The Gibson Group. She is the founder of Internet television provider Gogglebox-tv.com, and also established Front of the Box Productions Ltd, a leading producer of Maori and Pasifika content and makers of the award winning documentaries 'Gang Girls', 'Children of the Revolution' and 'Takatapui'.

Hauiti is of Ngati Porou and Nga Puhi descent, and previously worked in Education in Mangere.
