Chch Casino Workers Meet

Media Advisory

7 April 2011

Christchurch Casino workers are meeting to discuss their employment future at 11am, tomorrow, Friday, 8 April, in the Westview Room of the Hornby Workingmen’s Club.

This meeting is being organised by the Service and Food Workers Union, the casino workers’ union. The meeting is open to all Christchurch casino workers.

Members will be calling for the delegation from the Union that is meeting with the Casino management later tomorrow afternoon to discuss how casino workers can be paid a full wage until the Christchurch casino re-opens.

The casino workers meeting will also address the question of an increased, genuine redundancy compensation package, which the delegation will put to management at the later union/management meeting.

Members will also be calling on the Government to produce an Employment Recovery Plan for Christchurch workers with the full participation of unions and other interested community groups.
