Howick councillor Jami-Lee Ross resigns
Auckland Council Chief Executive, Doug McKay, was advised this morning of Cr Jami-Lee Ross’ resignation as Howick ward councillor following his Botany by-election win at the weekend.
Cr Ross’ resignation took effect immediately this morning and a by-election must be held within 82 days to elect a new councillor.
An announcement on the date for the by-election will be made in the near future.
The Mayor has reminded people in the Howick ward of the need for them to play their part in the democratic process.
“All voters should take this opportunity to check their enrolment to make sure they are eligible to cast their vote,” says Len Brown.
Enrolment details can be checked by calling 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 36 76 56), visiting www.elections.govt.nz, at any NZ PostShop or by freetexting your name and address to 3676.
“The Auckland Council is focused on a number of big issues, like tackling our region’s transport problems and keeping rates affordable. It’s important to get on with selecting a new representative for the people of Howick so their voices can be heard on these issues.”
