Denise Krum Announces Intention to Seek Botany Candidacy
Denise Krum, National party Deputy Regional Chair for Auckland, has announced her intention to seek selection for the
party's Botany by-election candidacy.
She acknowledged the historic and extensive contribution of Pansy Wong, stating that "the National Party is losing a
valued female member of it's caucus". She also noted that female representation is, in her opinion, "a wider important
issue for the party."
Denise hails from a political family background (her father, Hon. Graeme Lee, was a former National party Cabinet
Minister) and has studied politics to post-graduate level along with political party involvement stretching back many
years.
She is currently the Deputy Chairman for Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga in the Maungakiekie electorate. In her other role as
Deputy Chair for the Auckland region she has responsibilities for Botany, Pakuranga, and Maungakiekie electorates.
Denise, 40, is a mum with extensive community connections and is co-founder and Director of TableSide Charitable Trust.
TableSide connects neighbours (all over Auckland) together with local businesses and other organisations through shared
community projects. They have undertaken a range of Council-awarded projects from extreme makeovers for small
businesses, raising funds for sick children and foster-care kids, aiding migrant support services, to painting over
graffiti at local parks.
Denise stated that "she is anticipating a vigorous selection race".
"I look forward to the opportunity to know the people of Botany and the issues they find important." "As a mum, a
community worker and leader, my family and I would love the chance to put some roots down in Botany."
