STATEMENT FROM LIEUTENANT GENERAL JERRY MATEPARAE – CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCE
On behalf of the New Zealand Defence Force I would like to express our condolences to the family of Private John (Jack) Howard, recently killed in Afghanistan while serving with the British Army.
This is a loss that we in the Defence Force feel particularly deeply given Jack's service with the NZDF and the service of Jack's father with the NZ Defence Force. Although my words will do little to ease their suffering, our thoughts and prayers go to Jack's family, and the British Defence Force, at this sad time.
