The Electoral Commission has released the official results for the 20 November Parliamentary by-election in the electorate of Mana.

BUCHANAN, Kelly - Alliance - 37

CRAWFORD, Julian Lloyd - Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party - 112

DU PLESSIS, Colin - ACT New Zealand - 136

FAAFOI, Kris - Labour Party - 10,980

FITZPATRICK, Sean - Libertarianz - 46

LOGIE, Jan - Green Party - 1,543

McCARTEN, Matt - Independent - 849

PARATA, Hekia - National Party - 9,574

Candidate Informals - 37

TOTAL 23,314

In the 2010 Mana by-election there were:
• 43,556 people enrolled.
• A total of 23,834 votes cast.
• 2,467 advance votes.
• 1,446 special votes, including 51 overseas votes.

The winning candidate majority was 1,406 votes.

Voter turnout for the 2010 Mana by-election was 54.72% of the 43,556 people enrolled.

The Electoral Commission expects to return the writ showing the successful candidate on Tuesday 7 December 2010 (assuming no recounts).

The results by polling place are available from www.electionresults.govt.nz.

Background
The official results for the 2010 Mana by-election held on Saturday 20 November 2010 have been determined in accordance with the electoral legislation. The results are subject to any applications for judicial recounts.

The scrutiny of the rolls has been completed and the master roll for the Mana electorate has been prepared. All votes cast on election night have been recounted and balanced and special votes have been checked for eligibility before being counted. This has been done in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.
