ANZ New Zealand has opened an account at branches of the ANZ and The National Bank nationwide to take donations for the families of the miners believed to have died in the Pike River mine.
To kick start the fund ANZ New Zealand has donated $100,000.
“Anyone can go into one of our ANZ or National Bank branches and make a donation to help the families affected by this terrible tragedy,”
says David Hisco, ANZ New Zealand’s Chief Executive.
People can make a donation to the fund at any ANZ branch (account number 01 1841 0052483 00) or branch of The National Bank.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with the people of Greymouth, in particular the families and friends of those who are believed to have perished in this t this terrible event. We are keen to offer our support and assistance in the months ahead.”
Mr Hisco said that in addition to the $100,000 donation, the ANZ and National Banks will also offer a special package of assistance for the families impacted by the tragedy. The details of this are yet to be finalised.
