Grey Power concerned at GST rises, supports Labour

Grey Power is very concerned that food prices have been increasing at an alarming rate during the past few weeks and these prices will again be increased on October 1 with the 2.5% increase of GST.

We welcome any relief from any Political Party that endeavours to reduce food prices for those on low fixed incomes and those with young families who have difficulty in affording the increased living costs that they are now facing.

The Labour Party announcement that they are prepared to remove GST from Fruit and Vegetables is worthy of our support. This would help to increase the use of healthy foods and as a result help to maintain a healthy diet. Regular use of this type of food will help keep visits to the Doctor/Health professionals down.
