Chamber to Scrutinise Council Candidates

Chamber of Commerce to Scrutinise Wellington Council Candidates

The Wellington Employers’ Chamber of Commerce has sent a questionnaire to candidates standing in the upcoming Wellington City and Regional Council elections.

The questionnaires are designed to explore candidates’ views on actions and policies which we believe will enhance Wellington as a good place to do business in.

The Chamber will analyse candidates’ responses and ensure that its members are well informed on where candidates stand on key issues affecting business.

“We don’t necessary think that councils should be dominated by business people but it is important that councillors are aware of the essential contribution business makes to the city and the issues facing business,” said Chamber spokesperson Jo Bransgrove.

“We want the aspiration for better standards of living and a vibrant business community well represented on both councils,” she concluded.
