1000 employers turn out for employment law changes

1000 employers turn out for employment law changes

A thousand employers are turning out over the next few days to learn more about the upcoming changes to employment law, the Employers & Manufacturers Association reports.

The meetings for employers are being held in eight centres to advise employers on what the changes are likely to mean and how they will deliver benefits into the workplace, said David Lowe, Employment Services Manager for EMA.

"Interest has been so strong we have had to schedule extra sessions," he said.

"Employers are attending to hear the facts about the proposed changes.

"EMA has been a strong proponent of them because they will improve employment and business prospects, and the support for them is very pleasing.

"The meetings are no rent-a-crowd or gathering of professional protestors from the 80's; employers are paying to attend.

"Businesses who want to cut past unnecessary hysteria and find out the facts of these employment law changes can register to attend on 0800 800 362.

"Meetings are being held in Tauranga, Rotorua, Hamilton, Whangarei as well as in several parts of Auckland."
