New Executive Director for Committee for Auckland
The Committee for Auckland is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Shotter as its new executive director.
Chairman Sir Ron Carter said Ms Shotter’s appointment is a real win for the organisation.
“As the executive director, Ms Shotter will play a crucial leadership role in helping the Committee work with Auckland’s new governance structure to accelerate positive changes for the city.
“The Committee has made a significant contribution in the transition process to the new Auckland Council, and the opportunity now is for our members – who hail from the private sector, universities, non-profit groups and everything in-between – to have an active involvement in the shape of Auckland to come.
“It is an exciting time for the Committee, and we want to be able to work in close partnership with the new Auckland Council to transform Auckland into a truly world class city.”
Ms Shotter has had a successful career in the corporate sector. She spent 12 years at SKYCITY Entertainment Group, where she had responsibility for the day to day running and growth of all New Zealand operations and for Group Marketing across Australasia. Her career has also included stints at Telecom New Zealand and Shell Oil New Zealand.
She is currently executive trustee of the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, where she has spearheaded the development of a new strategic plan to support improved revenue and new investments in rehabilitation and wellbeing for women with breast cancer.
Ms Shotter is excited at the challenges offered by her new role.
“The Committee for Auckland has long been a champion for Auckland and its potential to be an economic and social powerhouse in Australasia. The Committee doesn’t just raise issues that hamper Auckland’s continued growth and development – it helps provide the solutions to them.
“We are at an exciting juncture in this great city, and I see the Committee playing a key role in helping mark a new way forward for Auckland.”
Ms Shotter replaces Kaaren Goodall, who served for seven years in the role and remains on the Committee for Auckland board.
She takes up her new role in October.
