Hutt City confident of meeting new resource consent rules
Hutt City Council is now subject to new
Government rules which require councils to pay applicants a
discount of 1 per cent per working day up to a maximum of 50
per cent when processing of resource consent applications go
over time.
Resource consents manager Helen Oram says she is confident council’s systems are robust and it will be rare for a consent application to be processed late.
“We have a good track record for releasing applications within the statutory timeframe, with around 97 per cent of applications released in less than 20 working days.
“The only applications that are likely to go over time would be very complex notified applications which can be legitimately delayed under the Resource Management Act.”
Ms Oram says it’s a good idea for people to check with council planning officers what information to include in their applications as this could affect how quickly it is processed.
