Indecisiveness Last Thing Auckland Needs
Today’s announcement that Alex Swney is now running with Citizens & Ratepayers for the Waitemata & Gulf Ward reeks of indecisiveness that has held back Auckland’s potential.
“Alex’s last minute call to change from an Independent candidate to now running with the C ticket is just another wake-up call for Aucklanders that this great city cannot afford to elect people who cannot make
their minds up,” said Waitemata & Gulf Ward Independent Candidate Tenby Powell.
“Auckland has an incredible opportunity before it, and one that should lead to Auckland being one of the World’s
Greatest Cities.
“This city needs good governance and one where Councillors need to let go of defensive, politically motivated postures,
not councillors beholden to old-styled backroom political deals,” said Mr Powell.
“We cannot afford to fail Auckland in the creation and leadership of the new city structure, and sadly, Alex Swney’s
last minute deal with the C ticket reeks of political desperation.”
Auckland is the gateway to New Zealand; our country’s centre of economic output and main contributor to the nation’s
gross domestic product. Without significant investment in infrastructure, community amenities and social services
Auckland’s positive contribution to New Zealand’s GDP will effectively decline.
“Aucklanders have an opportunity to elect leaders who have vision, experience and courage to get things done and not
capitulate to vested interests,” said Mr Powell.
