Super City mayoral candidate Colin Craig responds

Super City mayoral candidate Colin Craig responds to Len Brown’s local board policy

“While it is pleasing to see Mr Brown picking up on my “Keep it Local” policies (announced June 28 2010) he has in fact missed the key point.

“Local areas need to be empowered to influence the actual cost of rates for their local area. Without giving the local boards influence regarding rates, their power in reality remains very limited.

“I am also surprised at the suggestion that the council meeting should rotate around current council areas. The distance is bad enough from North Rodney to the city as it is. Imagine having to go from North Rodney to Franklin to simply attend a meeting or make a presentation.”
