Workers in Wellington Picket National Party Headquarters
Workers will be picketing outside the National Party head quarters at 5:30pm today to demonstrate against the proposed anti-worker legislation put forward by the National Party.
Continuing on from the weekends demonstrations in Auckland, Dunedin and Christchurch, today workers in Wellington will let the government know how they feel about restricting unions right of access to work sites and extending the 90day law.
Its inhumane Says Heleyni Pratley a Health Care Assistant at Wellington Hospital and Workers Party Wellington Industrial coordinator without organised workplaces and unions well have even worse conditions than we face currently! She adds the right to fire without grounds is a vicious attack on workers
John Key announced this attack at a meeting of the richest people in New Zealand. CEOs of multimillion dollar businesses that pay their workers peanuts, he talked about the 90 day no rights laws, and said that the results of that have been stunning. This is true but only for the bosses.
The 90 day law is about intimidating workers and keeping wages low Says Heleyni Basically, you can get fired for no reason and theres nothing you can do
The picket will begin at 5:30pm outside the National Party headquarters at 57 Willis Street
