Carters need Wellington’s support for Haiti school
Carters are asking Wellington residents to donate goods for a school in the Haiti highlands on behalf of the Kenbe La
Foundation Charitable Trust.
Goods are needed urgently as the Kenbe La Foundation has secured a container that is due to leave New Zealand in the
next few weeks.
Carters’ stores in Wellington will be acting as collection points up until 20 July for goods to support the school.
“People are able to drop off goods that will be practical for a new school, this could be anything, like sporting
equipment, pens, pencils, writing paper and stackable chairs,” said Simon Henderson, Wellington Operations Manager,
Carters.
“Even items such as new toothbrushes and cleaning equipment will be really valuable as the local area has been decimated
and they are starting from scratch.”
Carters are proud to be working with the Kenbe La Foundation and would like to encourage others to get behind the
appeal.
“The Haiti earthquake was a devastating event and we believe that every effort to help counts,” says Simon Henderson,
Wellington Operations Manager, Carters.
Goods donated in the Wellington region can be taken to Carters stores in Petone and Porirua so get behind the appeal and
take something along.
The Kenbe La Foundation was established by New Zealander Emily Sanson-Réjouis, whose husband Emmanuel K Réjouis and
daughters Kofie-Jade (5) and Zenzie (3) were killed in the Haiti earthquake on 12 January 2010.
The Foundation’s key aim is to practically support schooling in Haiti as the country recovers.
Goods in the Wellington region can be dropped by 20 July to:
