programme.

After the interview CWNZ’s Jay Pryor spoke privately with Prime Minister John Key, who expressed his support for the IWC’s Commercial Whaling proposals. Key told Mr Pryor that the issue was very sensitive with the New Zealand electorate, but that commercialization was the best option for the future of whaling. He later spoke on the issue during his interview on the Breakfast show.
The Petition will be launched in New Zealand’s five major centers at 1pm today:
“I support the legalization of whaling in New Zealand waters in accordance with International Whaling Commission (IWC) proposals”
The purpose of the petition is to encourage debate on the IWC’s commercial whaling proposals, and to promote the benefits of commercial whaling to a wider audience. CWNZ believes that the legalization of whaling would create massive economic benefits for the New Zealand Economy as well as providing the incentives to sustain or increase whale numbers in domestic waters.
