National Socialists a Disgrace to the 'NZ' in
'ANZAC'
Today's Anzac Day services commemorating battles in which New Zealanders and Australians fought side by side are an occasion to lament the betrayal of that which the soldiers so nobly gave their lives for, says SOLO Principal Lindsay Perigo.
"As Major-General Rhys Jones pointed out at the Wellington service, Anzac Day is a time to remember and ponder 'the cost of liberty and the price of freedom.' The price of freedom, he reminded us, is eternal vigilance.
"Alas, our vigilance has been lacking and we have allowed successive governments to mock and corrode the freedom for which our forebears fought. Under National that corrosion is proceeding apace.
"The Labour Government forbade old soldiers to smoke in their clubrooms. National has done nothing to reverse that. Under National, Nanny State has grown even more intrusive. We cannot watch TV without being assailed by her finger-wagging and hectoring about our eating, smoking, drinking, driving, gambling and electricity use. The ascetic, vegetarian, anti-smoking teetotaller Adolf Hitler against whom we fought would surely wonder why we bothered.
"National is looking favourably upon recommendations by former Labour Prime Minister Sir Geoffrey Palmer ("Joyless Geoffrey") that already-punitive alcohol taxes be raised drastically and bars be banned from remaining open overnight, thus returning us to the time when overseas tourists would say they visited New Zealand but it was closed.
"National is about to raise the vicious GST to 15%, which will hike the price of everything and be a crushing blow to those struggling to make an honest living (unlike politicians).
"National has signed on to a despicable United Nations agreement bestowing special privileges upon ‘indigenous peoples’—an agreement even Labour eschewed as being in flagrant betrayal of the ideal of equality before the law for which our soldiers, including Maori, laid down their lives. The country is braced for a further avalanche of claims by Maori for resources which are not theirs.
"National has even raised the long-standing minimum driving age from 15 to 16, thus perpetrating that old collectivist atrocity of penalising the many for the sins of the few.
"New Zealand has become an authoritarian backwater, over-governed by humorless, politically correct racists, wowsers and puritans, obsessed and panicked at the thought that their serfs might somehow be managing to have a good time.
"Small wonder that the number of Kiwis fleeing to Australia has just hit a record high.
"It's not a matter of the last one to leave turning out the lights At this rate, thanks to the National Socialists' determination to tax and regulate us to Third World status, there'll be no lights to turn out," Perigo concludes.
