Final days for say on Regional Council’s Budget

Final days for say on Regional Council’s Budget

Residents and ratepayers have just a few days left to have their say on the Environment Bay of Plenty Draft Annual Plan for 2010/11.

Submissions on the Draft Plan must be with the regional council by 4 pm on Wednesday 28 April 2010.

The Draft Plan sets out the proposed work programme and budget for the Regional Council. The diverse range of programmes include Tauranga harbour and catchment, Rotorua air, public transport, sustainable water and geothermal management, maritime operations, Rotorua lakes, land, water and air monitoring, regional economic development and sustainable land-use.

Wednesday is also the last day for submissions on proposed changes to both resource consent charges (Resource Management Act Section 36 Charges Policy) and Port Charges, both of which are being updated to reflect inflation.

A summary of the Draft Annual Plan and proposed charges were included in April’s Backyard, the Council’s region-wide newsletter.

The Draft Annual Plan and the summary document are available from Environment Bay of Plenty offices, via the website www.envbop.govt.nz or by phoning 0800 ENVBOP (368 267).

Hearings will be held on 17 and 18 May for submitters who want to present to Council. The final Annual Plan, Section 36 Charles and Port Charges, including any changes, will be adopted on 24 June 2010.
