Dakta Green's Cannabis Law Reform Tour
Heartland Kiwi Communities Have Responded Passionately To Dakta Green's Cannabis Law Reform Tour
Prominent and respected cannabis law reform campaigner Dakta Green arrived in town today for the Tauranga visit of his national tour. He and Maryjane the Cannabus are parking in a central city location to spread awareness that ordinary Kiwis can make submissions on cannabis law reform before the April 30 deadline for revamp of our outdated drug laws.
Dakta Green is on the road gathering Law Commission submissions (so tour venues and precise times are very much a work in progress), but he intends arriving in Tauranga between noon and 1pm today. He will speak to local people about ordinary Kiwis having a chance to have their say on the current drug law revamp. He encourages nsubmissions to the Law Commission before the April 30 deadline and will personally deliver them to the Law Commission in Wellington.
Heartland Kiwi Communities have responded passionately to Dakta Green's cannabis law reform tour, with submissions on the impending drug law revamp pouring in on the very first day of tour.
Dakta Green left Auckland yesterday morning on his North Island Armistice Tour.
His two-week cannabis law reform is already off to an triumphant start, with early success in raising awareness of the April 30 deadline to make public submissions on New Zealand's drug law overhaul.
"We had a wonderful result in Thames today," says an enthused Dakta Green, reporting from on board MaryJane the Cannabus during his late afternoon visit to Paeroa. "We collected 56 submissions in just two-and-a-half hours.
Later this evening, Dakta Green continued on to Katikati, where he and the Maryjane crew collected 33 more public submissions.
"It was a tremendous start to our tour," says Dakta Green.
"On Saturday we'll start at Waihi at 9am, and hang around for Market Day, before heading on to Tauranga. We'll park up somewhere central at about noon or 1pm and talk to local people about what they can personally do to help change New Zealand's unjust drug laws that are tearing apart Kiwi families.
"It's time for a change, and we have a golden opportunity for ordinary New Zealanders to have their say on updating our cannabis laws. We're calling for commonsense, justice and compassion."
Mr Green - a silverhaired grandfather who recently celebrated his 60th birthday - has attracted widespread popular support. People he meets on the road invite him to their homes that night.
Last evenings' reports had the submission count at 89, a triumphant start to a first day's campaigning. In the last update of the evening, Dakta Green reported he and the Cannabus crew were enjoying their hosts' company with a live musical performance.
Then Maryjane crew rocked into Waihi, for Market Day this morning, and are probably rolling into Tauranga very soon to find a central park up spot for some Public Debate.
We'll bring you today's updates - including an running submission count - just as soon as news comes to hand.
