Workers Rights Campaign Meeting
The Workers Rights Campaign, a Christchurch based group of unionists and
activists has been heavily-involved in collecting signatures for Unite trade
union’s petition for a citizens-initiated referendum to increase the minimum
wage. The group is organising a public meeting and is inviting anyone
concerned about the fact that real wages are 25% lower today than they were
in 1982 to attend.
Byron Clark, a former fast food worker and activist in the Workers Rights
Campaign will address the meeting, talking about the living wage campaign
and the groups' other activities, such as pickets against the new
probationary employment law and opposing tax-payer subsidies for McDonalds.
The meeting will take place at 6pm on Wednesday the 28th of October at the
Workers Educational Association (WEA) 59 Gloucester St.
