Fish & Game New Zealand congratulates the Forest Owners Association on their prestigious award for the most outstanding resource management documentation from the Resource Management Law Association.
“The awards recognise the value, importance and practicality of the Forest Owners Association’s Environmental Code,” said Bryce Johnson, Chief Executive New Zealand fish & Game Council. “The Code is an excellent example of audited self management and mandatory environmentally sustainable best practice, and one that Fish & Game challenges all primary producers to emulate.”
“Most significantly, the Environmental Code has already been adopted by 90% of forestry contractors and major forest owners. Peter Weir, Forest Owners Environmental Chair is to be congratulated on his approach that NZ’s plantation forest industry decided that it needed to take ownership of its environmental performance.”
“Dairy companies are in a perfect position to introduce a similar system of environmentally sustainable best practice through their supply contracts.”
