Bradford’s resignation a loss to Parliament - EPMU
Sue Bradford will be greatly missed as a parliamentarian by the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union but the union is pleased she will continue to be active in progressive politics.
Bradford has been a staunch supporter of the
union movement and the rights of working New Zealanders in
her parliamentary role and before that as a community
activist.
EPMU national secretary Andrew Little
says Bradford has been a great supporter of the union’s
campaigns and its members.
“Sue has represented the Greens at EPMU events on several occasions and, given the fact we represent coal miners and the aviation industry, some of her encounters with our members have been quite robust but she’s always held her own and won our members’ respect.
“Her work such as the removal of youth rates and the Buy Kiwi Made campaign has always been consistent with the values she holds and with her support for the rights of our members and every working Kiwi.
“We’ll miss being able to work with Sue in her capacity as an MP but we expect that we’ll find ourselves working with her again in the next stage of her career, and we look forward to doing so.”
The EPMU has worked with Bradford on several campaigns, most recently with the ongoing campaign in support of the Redundancy Protection Bill.
