NDU welcomes Sue Bradford back to the Parliament of the Streets
The National Distribution Union says it will greatly miss Sue Bradford’s presence in Parliament, but is looking forward to working with her wherever she now chooses to put her energies.
“Sue has always been in the struggle alongside, and an advocate for, the rights of the most vulnerable members of our society,” NDU General Secretary Robert Reid said.
“When she arrived at Parliament this did not change. She has stood up for people and causes that were often overlooked, such as unemployed workers, young workers, people with experience of mental illness and the right of children to live without violence.”
“Sue never wavered in her support of the campaigns by workers and their unions for fair wages and working conditions, her success in ending pay discrimination for teenage workers being a particular highlight.”
“Our members, in particular in Textiles and other manufacturing, would also want to acknowledge her leadership in the BuyKiwiMade campaign, which she took over in difficult circumstances when Rod Donald died, but carried out with absolute passion.”
“Parliament has lost one its most effective MPs.”
“But we warmly welcome Sue back to the Parliament of the Streets.”
