Bakers Welcome PM Stepping in To Fix Folic Acid

Bakers Welcome Prime Minister Stepping in To Fix Folic Acid
- Statement from NZ Association of Bakers

The Bakers welcome the Prime Minister’s decision to get involved in dealing with the folic acid food standard, said Laurie Powell, President of the New Zealand Association of Bakers.

“He is a busy man with a country to run, but New Zealanders will thank him for getting involved in this issue which involves every single citizen.

“It is encouraging to see media reports that suggest our Australian neighbours will not be troubled by a decision to pull out of the controversial food standard.

“If there is a solution to be found, we are confident that Prime Minister John Key and Minister for Food Safety, Kate Wilkinson will find it

“We are hopeful of a solution that will please New Zealanders who buy over 4 million loaves of bread a week”, said Mr Powell.
