Mt Albert By-Election Official Results
The Chief Electoral Officer has released the official results for the 13 June Parliamentary by-election in the electorate of Mt Albert.

In the 2009 Mt Albert by-election there were:
•/44,668 people enrolled.
•/A total of 21,346 votes cast.
•/2,274 advance votes.
•/1,349 special votes, including 101 overseas votes.

The winning candidate majority was 9,718 votes.
Voter turnout for the 2009 Mt Albert by-election was 47.79% of the 44,668 people enrolled.
The Chief Electoral Office expects to return the writ showing the successful candidate on Monday 29 June 2009 (assuming no recounts).
The results by polling place are available from www.electionresults.govt.nz.
Background
The official results for the 2009 Mt Albert by-election held on Saturday 13 June 2009 have been determined in accordance with the electoral legislation. The results are subject to any applications for judicial recounts.
All votes cast on election night have been recounted and balanced and special votes have been checked for eligibility before being counted. This has been done in the presence of a Justice of the Peace.
Comprehensive audit checks have also been completed at the national level to ensure the results are accurate. The scrutiny of the rolls has also been completed as required by law and the master roll for the Mt Albert electorate has been prepared.
