Time Running Out To Take Part In Mt Albert By-Election
Time is running out to get enrolled for the Mt Albert by-election – with just one week left until enrolment shuts off.
“It’s not too late, but there are only days left to get enrolled or to update your enrolment details in time to vote in the Mt Albert by-election,” says Gaylene Ross-Cartwright, Registrar of Electors, Mt Albert Electorate.
“Everyone enrolled will have received their EasyVote packs in the mail by now (Friday 6 June). If your EasyVote pack hasn’t turned up in your letterbox, you need to enrol or update your details now.
“People are already voting in the by-election, and yet there are thousands of locals who still haven’t enrolled,” says Ms Ross-Cartwright.
“Anyone who hasn’t enrolled yet, or who has it on their list of things to do needs to get moving now and enrol,” she says
“You cannot enrol on election day. The last chance is Friday 12 June,” says Ms Ross-Cartwright.
The fastest way to enrol in time is to go to www.elections.org.nz and fill in the enrolment form, print it, sign and date it and then either post or fax it in.
Or people can go to a PostShop and enrol on the spot.
To be eligible to enrol in the Mt Albert electorate you must:
- Be 18 years of age or over; and
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who has lived in New Zealand continuously for 12 months at some time; and
- Have lived in the Mt Albert electorate for one month or more.
