Where is our Governments support as promised?

MEDIA RELEASE: 21 MAY 2009

EUFA (Exposing Unacceptable Financial Activities Inc Soc)

Where is our Governments support as promised?

In a letter given to a victim of the finance crisis, written on joint National and House of Representatives letterhead, the following was written;

“The government will do what it can. We are committed to pursuing relentlessly the people finance companies that are dodging their responsibilities and liabilities by shifting assets to trusts and associated persons. If they have broken the law through dishonesty, incompetence or fraud, we will pursue them as vigorously as possible for whatever restitution is available and for any criminal behaviour.”

“National is committed to providing certainty and relief to all super annuitants during this difficult time. ……..”

“We have also made it clear to Banks that in return for Guaranteeing bank deposits; we expect them to be careful about the manner in which they deal with customers who are struggling to meet their obligations.”

EUFA have requested a meeting with Mr Key and Mr Power to discuss their promises and to learn specifically what the government is doing. EUFA also want to know what has happened to the Petition for a “Royal Commission of Inquiry” into the Finance crisis, as it has not been acknowledged in any form.

Any Minister, can set up a Commission of Inquiry. Commissions of Inquiry can inquire into any matter of major public importance or concern to the government of the day.
See www.dia.govt.nz/Pubforms.nsf/URL/CommissionsofInquiry.pdf/$file/CommissionsofInquiry.pdf

EUFA urgently want to see the National Governments commitments and seek assurances that individuals are not ignored in the process. To date investors are getting no assistance and most have no knowledge of any progress that reflects the governments commitments as stated in their correspondence.
