Tragic Shooting and Wounding of Police Officers

"That a police officer has been slain and other officers wounded in yet another deliberate, cold-blooded shooting is absolutely devastating," said President of the New Zealand Police Association, Greg O'Connor.

"As we pay tribute to Senior Constable Len Snee, so senselessly killed, our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family and friends. We will be continuing to support his family as best we can, as well as the officers who have been wounded," said Mr O'Connor.

"We welcome the presence of the Australian Police Commissioners and Association Representatives, who have flown in to attend the funeral as a mark of their respect for their NZ colleagues," Mr O'Connor said.

"Police Officers everywhere have been very moved by the support shown, particularly by the public of NZ. That our members feel so closely supported by the public they serve, is something positive that has come from this tragedy"
