Prime Minister Of Tonga, Hon Dr Feleti Sevele To Give 2009 Pacific Cooperation Foundation Annual Pacific Address
The Pacific Cooperation Foundation is pleased to announce Tonga’s Prime Minister, the Hon Dr Feleti Sevele, will give
the 2009 Annual Pacific Address in Christchurch (14 May 2009) and Wellington (18 May 2009).
The Foundation in partnership with the Macmillan Brown Centre at Canterbury University and Va’aomanu Pasifika at
Victoria University will host the public address titled “Tonga’s Foreign Relations: New Zealand and the Pacific ”.
Audience participants expected to attend will include policy makers, government officials, members of the diplomatic
community, members of parliament, NGO’s, academics and students, members of the Tongan community from throughout New
Zealand and the general public.
The Hon Dr Feleti Sevele is fifth Pacific leader to give the PCF Annual Pacific Address. Previous PCF Address speakers
have been the Prime Minister of Samoa Hon Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, former Deputy Prime of Vanuatu, Hon Sato
Kilman, former Papua New Guinea Chief Justice, Sir Arnold Amet and former Vice President of Fiji, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi.
During Dr Sevele’s visit to Christchurch he will also call on his old school St Bede’s College as well the University of
Canterbury where he completed his Masters degree.
