Fiji's Political Situation
Fiji's Political Situation
The Fijians are resilient, hardworking, resourceful and smart people and have found a satisfactory solution through their Head of State even though the Fiji Court of Appeal threw the spanner in the works so to speak.
The Head of State and the Prime Minister of Fiji is doing all their best to bring real democracy, economic and social development and sadly the foreign powers like NZ, Australia and USA are sabotaging their hard work and are being big bullies to the Fijians. These foreign powers are aided and abetted by toothless organizations like UN, EU, Commonwealth and the South Pacific Forum.
Why are these above mentioned governments and international bodies not demanding China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Syria, Morocco, Burma, Jordon and others to hold elections and have democracy? Yet these big bullies have no qualms in imploring trade deals with powerful non democratic countries.
Since independence in 1970, Fiji never had democracy in the true sense of the word, and now when we have a gentleman like Honorable Frank Bainimarama who is in the process of bringing democracy to all the Fijians, others are hell bent on sabotaging it. It reminds us of the old adage “Don’t shoot the messenger”.
As the former NZ Minister Phil Goff asserted in 200O that Frank Bainimarama is the only person who can stop Fiji slipping into anarchy and darkness.
