The Sale and Supply of Liquor and Liquor Enforcement Bill that has just received its first reading in Parliament shows
the new National Government continuing the Nanny State policies of its predecessor, says SOLO Principal Lindsay Perigo.
"The Bill is the upshot of former Labour Prime Minister Helen Clark's blaming the murder of a liquor-store owner on him,
the liquor-store owner, for being a liquor-store owner, rather than the Labour-supporting scum who shot him," Perigo
notes.
"Ms. Clark threatened and delivered swift action to restrict the availability of alcohol and reduce the number of
outlets for it. To see National run with her perverse and perverted initiative is disgusting.
"Among other things, the Bill stipulates that grocery-selling stores will not be able to obtain a liquor licence unless
they have a floor area of at least 150 square metres, meaning harmless little outlets like City Stop will no longer be
able to sell beer and wine.
"The Bill won't stop people drinking; it'll just boost the coffers of the larger outlets.
"It won't stop Labour voters looting and killing; it'll just mean National too will be blaming liquor outlets rather
than the looters and killers.
"Injustice Minister Simon Power-lust should be ashamed of himself for climbing in so unseemly a manner on a bandwagon
originally driven by National Socialist teetotaller Adolf Hitler," Perigo concludes.
