Kiwibank To Assist Victoria Bushfire Victims

13 February 2009
MEDIA RELEASE

Kiwibank has today launched a fund raising drive to assist victims of the bushfires that have affected thousands of people in Victoria, Australia.

The campaign has been launched by Chief Executive Sam Knowles with all funds going to the New Zealand Red Cross which is co-ordinating fund raising in this country.

“We’ve called our campaign a Fiver for The Fire and encouraging people to give $5 at any local Kiwibank or make a deposit online into the Kiwibank account Fiver for the Fire. Of course we’ll accept more or less than $5, just know that every bit helps,” Mr Knowles said.

Kiwibank has set up a dedicated account to receive the funds, kick started with $50,000 from the Chief Executive’s budget.

“We’ve poked a bit of fun at our Australian competitors in the banking industry over the years, but now’s the time to show how we really feel about our Australian cousins.

“The devastation is heart breaking. We need to help.”

The account number for payments: 38 9008 0825825 00.
