Avon River Body - Update.
Detective Inspector Greg Williams has taken over control of the investigation into the body that was found in the Avon River Christchurch, earlier today.
The area of Dallington Terrace will remain cordoned off until forensic examination is completed.
An inquiry base has been set up at the Christchurch central police station.
Police have identified the body as that of a young female, but do not have any identification as to who she is.
Any members of the public who have concerns about missing female family members or friends are asked to contact the inquiry base with the person's details and descriptions of clothing etc.
Further details will be released later today.
