Faith and leadership go together
Family Party leader Richard Lewis says faith is a key component of leadership, which is sadly lacking in both Helen Clark and John Key.
Their admissions in the TV One debate last night 'not' to believe in God will come as a concern to many New Zealanders who hold strong to the Christian faith.
“Faith is a key component of leadership and reflects a humility in a leader big enough to acknowledge a greater authority than themselves. Our political forebears didn’t have a problem acknowledging God. And that's reflected in the Christian values woven through our political and social arrangements. Not to mention the Christian prayer in Parliament and our national anthem. It’s disappointing that today’s leaders don't believe in the God who defends New Zealand,” says Mr Lewis.
The Family Party is New Zealand’s Christian political vehicle with a specific family focus. It’s members and candidates derive from a number of churches nationwide, including Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Salvation Army, Lifeway, City Impact and Destiny Church.
The party has undertaken a workable MMP strategy focused on winnable seats in East Coast Bays (Paul Adams) and Mangere (Jerry Filipaina). With a broader pitch to South Auckland and the wider conservative community, the Family Party has high hopes for the election.
“Parliament presently has a party dedicated to environment issues and a party dedicated to Maori issues. National is the party to handle our economy going forward. But it needs the Family Party to roll back the social engineering and put families first again,” he added.
