Family Party needed to temper Green social agenda
Family Party leader Richard Lewis says the Green’s policy of population control further justifies the need for a pro-life political party in parliament beyond 2008.
“The Green’s population policy that favours immigration over the intergenerational New Zealand family is a disturbing proposition. We can’t underestimate what they’re capable of achieving when it comes to social policy, having turned both Labour and National against the wishes of the vast majority of New Zealanders in passing the anti-smacking bill. If there were ever a time our country needed a pro-family, pro-life political party in parliament, that time is now,” said Mr Lewis.
He says the Green policy will further compound the effect of New Zealand’s concerning culture of abortion on demand. The Family Party aims to curb the number of abortions by bringing practice and procedure in line with parliament’s original intent. The party also wants to ensure parents are duly informed and consulted in the event their child becomes pregnant and is considering an abortion.
“As New Zealanders we build our lives around our families. This tradition will come increasingly under threat by politicians who value nature over human life, when both can be equally nurtured and protected. The Family Party will give a much needed voice for the New Zealand family and the unborn child,” he added.
