Gold For Sentencing Trust
Once seen as a radical over-the-top lobby group with extreme views and opinions 2008 has been a milestone year for the Sensible Sentencing Trust.
At a presentation in Hawkes Bay last night the Trust received the “Napier Inner City Gold Award for consistently exceptional customer service for 2006 – 2008”.
The latest award marks a high-point in what has been a phenomenal year for the Sensible Sentencing Trust, with its founder and Spokesman Garth McVicar being named as “2008 Communicator of the year” by Auckland Toastmasters.
Rotary recently honoured McVicar with a “Paul Harris Fellowship Award” the highest honour Rotary can bestow on an individual, and the first time in 27 years this award has been given outside of the Rotary organization.
Formed in 2001 to promote greater rights for victims and harsher sentences for violent offenders the Sensible Sentencing Trust has been successful in ensuring Law & Order is being hotly contended by all political parties.
McVicar credits the Trusts recently released “New Zealand – A Land fit for Criminals” DVD which he says “exposes a disastrous social experiment and corrupt ideology” for the high-profile of the law & order debate this election.
