NZ Army Welcomes News Of Arrests

The New Zealand Army has welcomed news today that the Police have arrested two men in relation to the burglary at the Army Museum Waiouru on 2 December last year. "We are very pleased that the police have made arrests in relation to the theft of the gallantry medal sets from Army Museum Waiouru," Deputy Chief of Army, Brigadier Phil Gibbons said.

"We would like to offer our thanks to the Police for their professionalism and commitment to the investigation. It is their hard work and dedication that has led to the arrests today. We sincerely thank all those involved.

"We would also like to acknowledge the support of the New Zealand public and media. It was the public outcry in response to the medals' theft that brought about their successful return.

"We now look forward to the medals returning to the Army Museum Waiouru on Tuesday 21 October, where we can remember and celebrate the selfless and heroic actions of those who received our highest awards for gallantry."
